[IL-2] Dynamic Campaign

Hello all! My first post as I start to explore Folk.

I am currently arranging an IL-2 Dynamic Campaign which people here would be more than welcome to attend. In order to maintain game-play balance and not have to constantly restart missions, I do ask that participants are at least capable enough to reliably take off and fly (landings are nice but not mandatory :P ). If you're interested in flying a mission or have any questions, simply let me know in this thread. Here is a vague description of the campaign:

Allied Campaign - Crimea, late 1942
Enemy forces: German / Italian
Allied forces: Russian, with American reinforcements
Situation: Russians have landed on a beach of Crimea, and are attempting to retake the entire peninsula. They have successfully taken the southern tip of the island, and now the USA has offered one squadron of P-38J's and several B-17's to pitch in to the fight. Players will control the P-38's to escort B-17's and perform various CAP and CAS roles as necessary.

Campaign map:

Session start time: Saturday, December 18th, 1100 hours CST (I believe this equates to 1800 hours GMT)
Session length: approximately 3-5 missions, or a maximum of 2-3 hours duration.
Difficulty settings: default "Normal", but with magic-cockpit disabled. This allows labels, padlock, and your position on the map.

All good comrade pilots should rush to the aid of Comrade Sky Marshal HoJo of Sky Front 18!

I feel your pain, comrade; but here's a cautionary tale: I gave my PC joystick to my next door neighbour's eldest a few years ago (because IL-2 made me confused and scared). And now he's an officer in the real RAF. So you see, soft drugs do lead to hard drugs.

Lots of fun was had last weekend - there will be follow up sessions to continue the campaign sometime in the new year, but I am expecting to postpone past the next two weekends (christmas and new years day) due to holiday conflicts. Cheers to those who showed up last game (and those who will show up next game in a couple more weeks) :)

HoJo: Fer discovered that I'd accidentally locked people out of the ACMI review thread (basically our AAR thread). It is, however, visible to you and everyone else now for appropriate AAR postings.

Thanks Headspace (and Fer). There probably won't be much AAR about IL-2 on this end of things (moreso in ST where most of the pilots come from), but a relevant thread may or could get started up here sometime.

We will be flying this Saturday, Jan 8th, at the same time 1100 CST / 1800 CET(? please confirm) ... I'm expecting a higher pilot turnout this time, hopefully 8-12. If you plan to play and you don't think I'm aware of your intent, please let me know!

I would _like_ to play, but I doubt I will be able to do. I will have my laptop, and it could theoretically have IL-2 installed, but while I have managed to transport my TrackIR I cannot say the same about my joystick. If I can find a €10 stick somewhere I may join in, but I honestly doubt it as the 8th will be my first 'full day' in France! We'll see.

I expect to see lots of YouTube videos and shit, otherwise I may get all depressed and stab you in the forehead.
