Missions: 19 comrades turned out today for a small platoon fragfest!

We opened up with the Imperial army of the AAF mercilessly crushing the confounded rebel alliance, in "Rebel Alliance Part 1". After a liberal application of "force bullet", the AAF moved to sneak up on a guarded FIA sanctuary, where the defenders were suppressed just long enough for IndFOR to trek their dirty boots all over the nice new chapel carpet in "The Service". Our BluFOR platoon had some tough times in "Budget Issues", but managed to only forget 3 dedicated party comrades as their Huron escaped from the death-hill. Their names will be forever remembered. There was ... eh... that guy... and the other one, and that 3rd guy with the hat. Finally, we returned to the AAF as they turned their back on their CSAT allies, and attempted to capture the vital hamster wheel station providing all of the electricity for the Dacha, in "Power Struggle". Another resounding victory later, and there are no longer any signs of the cocktail blender in the party summer home stopping any time soon.

As ever, please post your thoughts, feedback, screenshots and video here - we even have a YouTube channel upon which we might throw some of your videos if you share them with us! More details can be found in this thread!. More guidance on video editing for Folk ARPS is provided by Comrade Carson. Posts in the AAR threads really help us (the hosts and mission makers), both with understanding how we can improve the experiences, and showing potential comrades what our sessions are like.

PS: Thanks for all the kind words about my first night hosting. I hope everyone had the pre-approved party-mandated allowance of "fun" this evening. (And if you had more than that, that's ok, but don't let the quartermaster find out or he'll have my head for it!)

Power Struggle - Alpha Squad Medic
As the platoon loaded up in our helo's and prepared for insertion, Squad Lead Kefirz outlined the start of the plan:

The IFV down by the main plant was a prime target for our MAT gunner team, who lined up the shot:

... and made light work of the armored target.

With first negotiations concluded, the rest of alpha squad crossed the fields to engage in battle, under the watchful eyes of squad lead:

I was sent to help out MAT as they took a casualty, but was ejected from the living pretty soon afterward. CSAT it seemed, where not interested in giving up the power plant just yet:

Blood was spilled on our side:

Attempts were made to dislodge the attackers, including some SWAT style room-clearences (and even more effective room defending):

And Tigersharks epic battle with the man in the red hut (and this screenshot was after he survived a hand grenade at the door of the shack):

Which ended in predictable FolkARPS style:

In the end however, the power plant was secured, and the AAF are left with the unenviable task of trying to defend said power plant.

Kefirz....why oh why would you order the destruction of that vehicle before any of us were in position to assault?

It is my strong opinion that the order to do that kicked of the shitfest we had to deal with to assault the compound.

I'd rather have taken out sooner, than risk it opening up on us.
As for the shitfest in the compound, well.. yeah it was just that, but what would you expect? We were outnumbered 3:1, but at least we all had some fun, intense moments :D
Will you be requesting more potato grenades or was this the last time? :D (Did you use RGN? because we really shouldn't be using them at first place)

What's wrong with RGNs?

Here is what is wrong with them:

-They are weak and usually don't kill people (or don't kill at all).

-It takes longer to throw 2 RGN's than 1 RGO, or even shooting the guy.

-And as Tiger demonstrated, it is better to straight up shoot them and avoid complicating stuff with tacticoolness, being all Ranger-MARSOC-Deltas-Lead-The-Fucking-Way-Huah.

-All this offensive/defensive grenade stuff is bullshit. If you are throwing a grenade, you will make sure that there is cover where you are safe from it. People don't throw grenades in front of them and not hide from them.

-As a room clearance tool you want everyone in the room dead, you do not want to open a door and see that they are even angrier than before.

-The weight argument is that the RGN is lighter, but if you need to have 2 or more of them to get the job done, then what's the point. By the time you will throw your grenades, you might die or the enemy has changed position and is waiting in an unknown spot to shoot your pumpkin.

Range. You can throw an RGN twice as far as an RGN. (And hopefully flush the other guy or at least mark their position visibly to everyone else).

Speak for yourself :jihad:

Seriously, though, shock grenades have a legitimate purpose, but they're neither modeled right, nor do we use them right. The range has it's uses, but since A3 removed range ajusting, it's more of a liability.

Yes, A3 doesn't simulate pressure, so these types of grenades are useless. In normal situations pressure grenades are used in confined spaces, such as rooms, where it is possible to get a temporary overpressure.

Not convinced by range, either you are throwing it blind over cover or bouncing in a room/window, range does not matter. If you are looking at me and throwing the grenade, well bad luck buddy because I will shoot you and duck behind cover.
