In fairness, that is our normal approach to these missions. CO decided to go full apocalypse now this time thoughKefirz wrote:You just got to assume the AO is very unfriendly and land a kilometer out, the squishes have legs too.

Which was kindof fun in a way, but when there's really no hope...madrak_the_red wrote:CO decided to go full apocalypse now this time though

Which is, after all, how the mission was originally written.madrak_the_red wrote:CO decided to go full apocalypse now this time though

Gods-damn-it, even that had a higher framerate and longer draw distance than I do!

Maybe if we had a couple of AH-9s to suppress the beach we could have pulled it off

Nope. Got ticked off at the Tigris's I had in the editor, tried to run on them with an AH9.madrak_the_red wrote:Maybe if we had a couple of AH-9s to suppress the beach we could have pulled it off
Tigris-v-AH9 isn't a fight. It's not even a slaughter. It's a bug hitting the windshield of a space shuttle during re-entry.
Maybe something with DAGRs could do it, or maybe if I had a draw distance of a few km and plinked away at the extreme range of the FFARs but otherwise nope, your best way of managing a Tigris-v-AH9 fight is to get a mountain in between you and the Tigris and keep it there for as long as you want to live I mean, those things shot me through a house while I was hovering behind it (and I was level with the top of the ground floor doors, I hadn't accidentally popped up).

I more meant to suppress the infantry at the beginning, meaning our infantry would have been able to survive the landing with their cohesion intact. Then when the armour showed up, we could have PCML'd it

I didn't know American helicopters could turn off their main rotors and continue to fly, back in the day.Sparks wrote:Gods-damn-it, even that had a higher framerate and longer draw distance than I do!
